We have exciting news for all of the budding artists out there: the Fan Festival 2008 Art Contest prizes have been revealed on the official website! We're proud to announce that the first-place winner in each category will receive a brand-new PC! Don't worry if you were unable to secure a ticket to the event; art contest entries will be accepted regardless of Fan Festival attendance. So get those creative juices flowing and have your masterpiece ready for submission by the November 23rd deadline.

We wanted to remind everyone that Arena season 4 is coming to a close. During next Tuesday's maintenance on November 11th, all arena teams, as well as ratings, will be wiped and arena charter NPCs disabled. However, arena points will persist until the beginning of the next arena season, or until a player reaches level 71. Thus, Arena points will be rewarded for rated games played this week and players will be able to purchase Arena items that do not require a team or personal rating. Upon the close of Arena season 4, players at level 70 will continue to be able to play skirmish Arena matches against other level 70 opponents even after Wrath of the Lich King launches. Arena season 5 is currently scheduled to begin on December 16th, and once that happens players who have reached level 80 will be able to compete in rated arena matches where they can gain arena points which can be used to purchase level 80 arena gear, as well as compete for end-of-season rewards. Players who remain at level 70 after Season 5 begins will only have access to play skirmish arena matches against other level 70 players. However, two new skirmish brackets will be made available (71-75, 76-80) for players who wish to hone their arena skills while leveling in Northrend.

According to the Herald, patch 1.04b lands tomorrow morning. Servers are coming down at 7:00am EST for patching (Oceanic to follow at 9:00am). All servers should be back online by 1:00pm. * When conquered, Keeps will always provide three gold loot bags and Fortresses will now offer six guaranteed gold loot bags as part of the chest loot. * Rally Masters have been added to all warcamps. Now, players can set their rally point in a warcamp in the same manner as binding in a chapter hub. * To promote population balance among the various scenarios, we have added a feature that reduces the number of times a specific scenario can launch in a short period of time. This will give scenarios which are launched less frequently an opportunity to catch up in the queue population and launch more often.

For Hero Battles, May's second place competitor Vi Ru edged out Scoutmaster Sihoe to claim the winner's seat for October. We extend our congratulations to all competitors! You can find this month's skill usage charts, GvG results, and 1v1 results. We will be updating the tonic in the Zaishen Chest today. To find out the tonic flavor for November. For those who have placed their bets in the Xunlai Tournament House, tournament reward points will NOT be distributed at this time. Instead, points will be available after the November 13th live update.

After Siege of Mirkwood has been launched for almost a month, now players have already known clearly about how things were operated in the new areas except in some complicated ones, which are also enjoyable. Here we will offer you the explanation on skirmish rewards.
 
First, I want to express thanks to Merric from A Casual Stroll to Mordor.   He has started a great guide to the skirmish rewards system. It was divided into two parts, which are all about cosmetic clothing and items, a very thorough job. The first guide includes a quick explanation of skirmish marks and how they drop, and follow up with a chart including each type of mark, a screenshot of the tooltip, and where it can be found. Scroll down a bit more and you'll find a similar chart featuring each type of cosmetic clothing available and the requirements to acquire it. The second one, released this morning, carries the same format and items such as cloaks and backpacks are included.
